BACKGROUND
I have a degree in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. I am very passionate about media, film, technology and mass communication — be it social media or branding for new or established IPs. Communication is consumed so quickly, it can be hard for the right message to get to the right audience. That’s where I come in.
EXPERIENCE
I have been a freelance web designer since 2004, working with HTML, CSS and Flash. As a freelancer, I designed sites for non-profits like the One Campaign and start-ups like Zenergy Bio-Diesel.
In 2006, I went back to school to finish my degree in RTF. My first job in Austin as a college student was working for KVR-TV at UT as Director of Entertainment Programming, where I produced television segments, created a new branding identity for the station’s flagship show, and trained new staff.
The next year, I worked as Assistant Production Manager at the Austin Film Festival, where conducted film market analysis, researched and pitched New Media marketing opportunities and served as liaison between the festival, filmmakers, attendees and vendors. I also worked part-time as a webmaster for the Cine las Americas Film Festival, where I redesigned their online style-guide, which is still in use (though I no longer maintain the site).
I spent my last semester of college in Los Angeles, working for The Weinstein Company as an Acquisitions intern. This position furthered my market research skills, as I had the opportunity to create reports for high executives to provide information meant to help in the film purchase process during major film festivals such as Cannes, and the LA Film Festival.
Currently, I am a contractor for Electronic Arts, where I write corporate branding and positioning documents, create online and print graphics; and Flash interactive support content. I’m also heavily involved in the day-to-day upkeep of the Pogo.com online community, where I write support Articles and create weekly community and marketing reports.
That’s just the tip of the iceberg, to be honest. I’ve always been interested in the intersection between film, design and communications through marketing or social media.
NOW, FOR THE REAL ‘ABOUT ME’
If you want to work with me, or collaborate on a project, you will get a better idea of my personality by knowing a little bit more about me, besides the work-related information.
I live in Austin, where I am a regular at social media outings such as Refresh Austin, the ACTLab, Dorkbot, and tons of other tech-related tweet-ups.
I’m a vegetarian recently turned vegan and have two very mischievous pet rabbits. I’m a classic gamer, and mostly watch documentary films in my spare time (although I’m a huge fan of TV serials like Lost and Mad Men).
